Manual drawing reviews and inconsistent cost estimates

Procurement teams manually reviewed engineering drawings and specifications to identify the information required for cost estimation. For complex components, this involved tracing related sub-drawings and reviewing dozens or even hundreds of documents for a single item.

Cost calculations also varied by individual, with different Excel files and calculation methods used across the team. This resulted in fragmented quotation data and inconsistencies in cost estimates.

Automating drawing analysis and cost estimation

We implemented an AI-powered system that structures relationships across engineering drawings, specifications, and sub-drawings and automatically extracts the information required for cost estimation.

The system applies the customer’s existing cost calculation rules and quotation logic to automatically calculate item-level costs and final quotations. Results are generated in a standardized quotation format, together with key inputs and calculation details, enabling faster and more consistent review.

Up to 90% faster quotation turnaround

The system reduced quotation preparation time by up to 90%, significantly shortening turnaround times. Standardizing cost estimation logic and data also reduced variation between individual estimators.

Historical quotations are stored in a structured database, allowing teams to reuse previous cost and quotation data and respond more efficiently to new quotation requests.
