Reducing manual inspection in automotive display reliability testing

Automotive displays undergo repeated reliability testing under varying voltage, vibration, and temperature conditions to verify proper operation. Traditionally, operators visually monitored each display throughout the test, creating inconsistencies in inspection results and increasing workload during long test runs. Differences in inspection criteria and recorded results across test types also made it difficult to maintain standardized quality records.

Automating real-time inspection with Vision AI

We implemented a Vision AI system that continuously monitors automotive displays and automatically identifies display anomalies during reliability testing. Inspection criteria and logic can be configured for each test type, including voltage, vibration, and thermal chamber testing.

Test conditions, inspection results, and detected defects are automatically recorded, enabling standardized quality and inspection records. A few-shot inspection approach also allows the system to adapt to new products and test conditions using only a small number of reference images representing normal and defective conditions.

Three-camera inspection with automated reporting

The system uses three cameras to continuously inspect displays during high- and low-temperature testing and automatically generates a report when testing is complete. This reduces reliance on manual visual inspection while improving inspection consistency and reliability.

Automated data capture and reporting also improve quality traceability, while configurable inspection logic provides a foundation for extending the system to additional reliability tests and product types.
