Runway AI OS to deliver end-to-end AI development, experimentation, and deployment environment for air-gapped defense networks

SEOUL, South Korea, May 7, 2026 — MakinaRocks, South Korea’s leading Physical AI company, today announced it has been selected by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) to execute the “AI Staff Agent Development Environment for Defense Weapons Systems” project. The total contract value is KRW 1.46 billion.

MakinaRocks will deliver the project using Runway, its proprietary enterprise AI operating system, which provides an integrated environment for developing, testing, and deploying AI applications. The company will leverage Runway to build an optimized development infrastructure capable of operating efficiently within air-gapped, high-security defense networks — environments where data sovereignty and operational continuity are non-negotiable.

Upon project completion in December 2026, MakinaRocks will deliver two core capabilities: an AI agent development environment and a battlefield knowledge base management framework. Together, these form the foundation for a sustainable, continuously evolving defense AI ecosystem within South Korea’s closed-network military infrastructure.

“This project is particularly meaningful because it gives us the opportunity to validate Runway as an AI agent development platform for secure, closed-network environments,” said Andre S. Yoon, CEO of MakinaRocks. “We will leverage our expertise to successfully deliver the project and contribute to strengthening South Korea’s defense AI capabilities.”

The ADD contract is the latest in MakinaRocks’ growing presence across South Korea’s defense sector. The company is currently collaborating with the Joint Chiefs of Staff on generative AI technologies to improve information retrieval efficiency, and with the Republic of Korea Navy First Fleet Command to develop an AI-powered assistant supporting the operation and maintenance of critical naval vessel weapon systems.

Beyond domestic defense, MakinaRocks is accelerating its global expansion. The company recently participated in Sea Japan 2026, Asia’s largest maritime exhibition, held in Tokyo from April 22 to 24, where it showcased AI solutions designed to accelerate AI Transformation (AX) across the defense and martitime industries.
