MakinaRocks’ AI Operations Platform ‘Runway’ Integrates SNUAILAB’s High-Performance Deep Learning Machine Vision Model
Unveiling the ‘Intelligent AI Eye’: MakinaRocks and SNUAILAB Transform Inspection, Evaluation, and Recognition in Battery and Manufacturing Industries

 

Seoul, South Korea, October 11, 2023 – Enterprise AI startups, MakinaRocks and SNUAILAB have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly develop a specialized AI package for battery and manufacturing machine vision. The signing took place in Seoul, South Korea, on October 11, 2023, with the CEOs of MakinaRocks, Andre S. Yoon and Jaehyuk Lee, and SNUAILAB CEO, MyungHo Yoo, present.

 

The MOU outlines technical and business collaboration between the two companies with a primary focus on advancing AI technology in the battery and manufacturing industries. Key highlights of the partnership include: 

  • MakinaRocks: MakinaRocks will provide technical support leveraging its MLOps platform, Runway (mrxrunway.ai), known for automating data pipeline operations, managing AI model training, deployment, retraining, and facilitating edge operations through a user-friendly interface. 
  • SNUAILAB: SNUAILAB will contribute its expertise in image restoration models (SIRNet) and defect detection models (SINNet) to the collaboration. These models will be adapted and applied to various manufacturing environments to enhance AI solutions. 

 

The core objective of this collaboration is to enhance the role of AI in manufacturing, with a clear focus on improving efficiency and quality across industries.

 

MakinaRocks has earned a prominent position in the AI landscape, being the only AI startup listed in the manufacturing category of the 2023 CB Insights AI 100, alongside major tech companies such as OpenAI and Hugging Face. The company has a track record, having completed over 40 AI projects across various industries, including battery, automobile, energy, and manufacturing, in both domestic and international markets.

 

SNUAILAB, compromising six faculty members from Seoul National University and core researchers from Samsung, is recognized for its expertise in computer vision and big data processing.
