LLM-based code analysis validated on a live production line, recovering PLC memory without halting production
PoC completed in the first half of 2026; deployment across Samsung Display’s Vietnam production lines targeted by year-end
SEOUL, South Korea, August 26, 2026 — MakinaRocks, South Korea’s leading Physical AI company, today announced a collaboration with Samsung Display to apply AI-based equipment control optimization at Samsung Display’s Vietnam manufacturing plant. Building on a proof-of-concept completed in the first half of this year, MakinaRocks is targeting deployment across live mass production lines in Vietnam by the end of 2026.
Production equipment on a factory floor runs on instructions from small industrial computers called programmable logic controllers (PLCs). As processes change and new products are introduced repeatedly, control code accumulates over decades, and PLC memory, which has a fixed capacity, eventually reaches its limit. There is no longer room for new functionality or for the computation and inference that large language models require. Solving this conventionally means reconfiguring the equipment or the line itself, which requires stopping the factory and absorbing substantial time and cost.
MakinaRocks is addressing this with an AI-based PLC control solution. The core objective is to recover PLC memory headroom without shutting down production or replacing equipment. An LLM analyzes the full codebase and automatically identifies legacy code left behind by retired processes, along with duplicated and unused instructions. The approach was validated on a live production line at Samsung Display’s Vietnam plant, confirming both code analysis accuracy and resource savings. MakinaRocks plans to expand the collaboration across additional display manufacturing processes.
