Extending its order-win streak, MakinaRocks partners with Hanwha Systems to expand its foothold in industrial AI transformation
SEOUL, South Korea, July 28, 2026 — MakinaRocks, South Korea’s leading Physical AI company, announced today that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hanwha Systems on July 27 to jointly expand AI transformation (AX) initiatives across manufacturing sites in Korea and abroad.
The three-year partnership builds on an AX program led by Hanwha Systems, combining the company’s deep domain expertise in manufacturing and proprietary AX technologies with MakinaRocks’ specialized engineering talent. Together, the two companies will establish a joint technical collaboration framework aimed at accelerating AI adoption across the manufacturing sector.
Under the agreement, MakinaRocks will serve as a core strategic partner in Hanwha Systems’ AI agent development and platform deployment business. To support close collaboration, MakinaRocks plans to establish a dedicated task force in Korea’s Yeongnam region, a major manufacturing hub, ensuring on-the-ground alignment with Hanwha Systems throughout the partnership.
The MOU comes as MakinaRocks continues a run of strong commercial growth. The company’s order intake surpassed USD 14.5 million (KRW 20 billion) in the first half of 2026 — roughly three times the USD 4.6 million (KRW 6.4 billion) recorded in the same period last year, and already nearing its entire full-year 2025 order total of USD 14.9 million (KRW 20.5 billion).
Defense and aerospace represented the largest share of orders at 27%, with the Agency for Defense Development and Doosan Enerbility among the company’s key customers. The defense sector accounted for 22% of MakinaRocks’ total revenue in 2025. The new partnership with Hanwha Systems gives the company an additional, stable revenue base as it works to expand beyond defense into broader manufacturing AX opportunities.
“A successful manufacturing AX business requires a partner that combines on-the-ground domain knowledge with real AI engineering capabilities,” said YunSoo Kim, Head of Value Creation Division at Hanwha Systems. “Through this collaboration with MakinaRocks, we aim to secure reliable agent development capabilities and strengthen our competitive position.”
“Manufacturing is a mission-critical industry spanning complex processes and equipment, where data security and on-site trust matter above all else,” said Andre S. Yoon, CEO of MakinaRocks. “Through this strategic collaboration with Hanwha Systems, we intend to validate our agent development capabilities and establish ourselves as an indispensable partner in driving AI transformation across manufacturing environments.”
